When Sean Lendor is a mere nobody, he promises to marry a plump girl named Ariel Lavine. However, his father makes him break his promise because he thinks that Sean cannot possibly provide her the happiness she deserves with their current financial situation. Ariel then mistakes Sean’s decision as a sign of disdain for her figure and insists on being the one to call off the engagement.
